Dear Friends of SLCC,
Winter is on the way out and Spring is just around the corner. The warmth of the sun feels so good as we approach Spring and that means the camping season isn’t too far away either.
It has been a good year so far in spite of frozen water lines, flooded rooms and some equipment failure. The groups that have been here have really enjoyed themselves and have shared some good reports with us. Our Family Winter Retreat was excellent and the weather warmed up a little to go along with our SOUTH OF THE BORDER theme. We had 32 families attend and I do believe that all our guest really had fun. The donkey basketball games were really funny and we thank God that no one was hurt. When we were not playing basketball the little kids got to ride the donkeys
The SLCC staff did a wonderful job in putting this together. There was a lot of time put into making all the props for the Mission background, the Village and the Market Place and the dining hall staff provided us with some good SOUTH OF THE BORDER meals Saturday night we had a Fiesta and Bauman’s Meats from Markesan provided the BBQ pig and chickens.
This is what some of the teens had to say about the retreat::
“Hey!! I had a lot of fun this weekend. It was soooo fun to hang with all my old friends and meet new ones!! I can’t wait till next year.”
“Each year this gets better and better.”
“It was really fun, really fun.”
Plans are all ready underway for next year. Our theme will be NORTH TO ALASKA and the dates are January 29-31,2010. Don’t miss it!
I hope you have SLCC in your plans for this year. Family Camp isn’t that far away and we are taking room and campsite reservations now. Plan to attend-you won’t regret it!
